1. Fault Management -Detection, isolation, prevention, and correction of abnormal behaviour and faults in hardware, software, and network circuits.

2.Configuration Management- Managing the hardware and software set up of network. Establish the inventory to be managed, eg. Network topology, database considerations.
Network topology: manual, auto discovery, views ( Physical and logical)
Network Provision: Design, Installation and Maintenance, Circuit Switched Network, Packet switching, Protocols, Performance, Quality of Services.

3. Accounting Management - Identification of the major costs and establishment cost for the use of managed objects. such as usage of resources Hidden cost of IT usages, Business applications, functional accounting.

4. Performance management - This function ensures that the network continues to meet its design purpose. by doing data monitoring, performance metrics, problem isolation. Fault Management - Involves the following: fault detection, fault location restoration of services, identification of root of the problem and problem solution.

5. Security Management - Protect management system, protect managed objects: integrity of the network resources, privacy, availability of services, unauthorised used of resources, non repudiation of action.
